I have recently gotten into POTA and it has me hooked. Here are pictures of my setup. My portable setup includes a FT-891, Wolf RIver Coil 17 foot whip (my primary antenna), and a WRC SOTA Special that I use the coil of for bands lower than 20m. Instead of utilizing the 3 traditional 33ft ground wires, I use a Faraday cloth connected to my WRC tripod using an alligator clip. For anyone who owns any WRC coils or whips, I highly recommend the use of a Faraday cloth, or a piece of aluminum window screen. The cloth is a slightly more expensive option ($30 vs $10 for the screen) however the cloth folds up into a much more portable size, and doesn’t poke you like the screen does. Now I can have my antenna completely setup and tuned in less than time than it took me just get my wires unwound. It also has a much smaller footprint, which of course is great for POTA and SOTA, and I typically see lower SWR than what I did with the OEM ground wires.
